A housing developer has unveiled plans to build 500 new homes on land off Gresty Lane, near the Crewe Alexandra Community Soccer Centre in Shavington.
IM Land says it is seeking views on a vision to create new homes and a new primary school on the site.
The plan includes up to 500 one-bedroom to five-bedroom homes, a 100-space car parking area to help existing car parking issues at Crewe Alexandra in the Community Soccer Centre, a new primary school with space for a new nursery, and new outdoor spaces such as retained woodland, a children’s play area, allotments and public open space.
The firm has launched a consultation with the local community to gather feedback on their plans before submitting an outline planning application to Cheshire East Council.
Local residents are being encouraged to attend a public drop-in event at Crewe Alexandra in the Community Soccer Centre on Thursday December 11th, 3pm – 7pm.
Residents can also fill out a questionnaire online at www.westcreweroadsouthgrestylane.co.uk where they can also find more information on the proposals.
The consultation closes on Friday 9th January 2026.
Ian Deverell, senior land and planning manager at IM Land, said: “This is an exciting opportunity to not only create much-needed new homes for Crewe but also deliver high-quality infrastructure that will benefit the whole community.
“We know how important it is for people to have access to schools and to sport, as it helps bring people together and create a strong sense of community.
“That’s why we are working with the council and Crewe Alexandra in the Community to ensure these benefits are delivered in the right way.
“We want to hear what people think of our initial vision as it will help us develop a more detailed masterplan, which will be submitted to the council in early 2026.”
Cheshire East Council is required to build 36,000 homes by 2030, with Crewe being identified to deliver 7,700 homes in the same period in the adopted Local Plan.

Let us hope CEC stipulate a good Sect 106 agreement/s that helps to improve the local infrastructure. There was a report some time ago that revealed how badly the Council were in dealing with many millions of pounds received via 106 agreements and that there was a danger some might have to be returned to the developers. It has gone quiet on this. Additional carparking for CAFC is just not good enough.
