Fire crews were called out to tackle a large bonfire which was in danger of spreading to conifer trees near Nantwich.

The bonfire was on land off Crewe Road, in Walgherton, at around 5.15pm yesterday (December 20).

One fire appliance from Crewe was called out to the scene.

A Cheshire Fire spokesperson said: “Crews used a hose reel water jet to extinguish a bonfire that was at risk of spreading to nearby conifers.”
