former NatWest building in Nantwich - new White Stuff store

The former NatWest Bank in Nantwich town centre is set to become a new White Stuff clothing store.

A planning application for new signage on the building which overlooks the town square has been submitted to Cheshire East Council.

The clothing brand plans to take over the ground floor of the building at 36 High Street, which has been empty since NatWest closed in June last year.

In a statement by White Stuff, they said: “Nantwich is one of Cheshire’s most desirable market towns, offering a mix of national and independent retailers, alongside a traditional indoor market and popular monthly farmer’s market.

“The site is in a prominent high street location. White Stuff are taking the ground floor space only.”

The company is planning internal works and will remove internal walls on ground floor, redecorate walls and ceilings to ground floor front of house only and new back of house walls.

Externally, they plan to remove existing shopfront fronting High Street, install a new glass shopfront and a new ‘White Stuff’ fascia sign and projecting sign to front elevation.

The company statement added: “The unit is currently empty and vulnerable to vandalism and misuse. The design aims to restore the use of the building and complement the existing architecture.

“White Stuff wishes to occupy and run a successful shop in Nantwich as part of the community.”

The application for one projecting sign and one fascia sign, both internally illuminated, can be viewed here.

White Stuff is a British lifestyle brand offering clothing and accessories for women, men, and children.

The company says its focus is on sustainable materials including linen dresses, denim, knitwear, coats, and footwear. They also sell loungewear, nightwear, and accessories like bags and scarves.

Currently, the nearest White Stuff stores are in Chester city centre and at Cheshire Oaks retail park.

  4. I thought there were already plenty of places to buy White Stuff in Nantwich?

Pity it wasn’t the Wetherspoons that we all crave for.

  5. Thats really good news for Nantwich. A strong retail business selling good quality merchandise. Both Joules and FatFace have done well in Nantwich since they opened so theres no reason to think this brand wont do equally as well.
