Nantwich Town earned a hard-fought point in a 1-1 draw away at Runcorn Linnets.

A fine Joe Collins strike looked to have given the Dabbers all three points, but the hosts levelled with just six minutes left.

The point keeps Nantwich in 10th place while second-placed Runcorn are just two points behind league leaders Lower Breck.

Isaac Graham had early chances for the hosts but fired his efforts off target as Runcorn bossed most of the first half.

Dabbers keeper Ben Garratt made a number of stops to keep the game at 0-0 going into half-time.

In the 55th minute, the Nantwich defence somehow managed to block the ball on the line in a goalmouth scramble.

Just three minutes later, Collins collected the ball and fired an unstoppable shot which game the visitors an unlikely lead.

Nantwich also introduced new loan signing Jordan Hodkin from Crewe Alex, and a minute later his almost made it 2-0 with a shot into the side netting.

Alex Panter also saw his effort sail over the bar, and then in the 84th minute a cross to the far post was bundled home by Ryan Brooke to rescue a point for the promotion chasers.

Hodkin almost nicked it for Nantwich in the 94th minute but fired wide from a tight angle.

The result brough an end to a productive January for the Dabbers, which saw four wins and two draws in six matches, 14 goals for and only three against.
