Nantwich Town Women moved a step closer to league glory with a commanding 4-1 victory over Warrington Town in the North West Women’s Regional League Division One South.
In their penultimate home match of the 2025/26 campaign, the Dabbers showed resilience and quality to claim a crucial three points that keeps them firmly on course for the title.
Manager Dan Mellor made just one change from the previous outing against Wirral Phoenix Women, handing Corie Mather her first start for the club.
After conceding during a nervy opening spell, the Dabbers responded superbly.
They regrouped, found their rhythm and turned the game on its head before the break to lead 2-1 at half-time.
The second half saw a more controlled and disciplined performance as Nantwich extended their advantage to seal an emphatic 4-1 win.
Amanda Fallon led the charge with a clinical brace, taking her remarkable tally to 85 goals in 50 appearances for the club.
Beth Grice and Sam Cawley were also on target to round off an impressive afternoon’s work.
The milestone occasion made it a day to remember for Fallon, who marked her 50th appearance in style.
She was deservedly named GOAT Nantwich Player of the Match.
Speaking after the match, Mellor said: “Going behind after a nervy opening could have unsettled us, but the players showed real composure.
“We stuck to our principles, got ourselves in front by half-time and from there I thought we showed maturity.
“The second half was controlled and disciplined and the players carried out the game plan extremely well. I’m proud of how they handled the occasion.
“Our message has been consistent all season… Focus on performances and standards. If we do that, results tend to follow.”
The victory keeps Nantwich top of Division One South on 41 points from 16 games, boasting 13 wins, two draws and just one defeat, along with an imposing +55 goal difference.
“Only Chester FC Women, currently on 36 points, can catch them with two matches remaining.”
The Dabbers now face Runcorn Linnets FC Ladies away on March 8th (2pm) before hosting Manchester Laces on March 22nd (2pm).
