Visitors stepped back into one of the most tense periods of modern history as the Hack Green Secret Nuclear Bunker near Nantwich hosted its annual Cold War Weekend.
The popular attraction transported guests deep into the realities of the Cold War, with detailed re-enactments showcasing life on both Western and Eastern sides of the global divide.
Across the site, visitors encountered military displays, including a collection of period vehicles and recreated military camps set up in the bunker grounds.
Inside the underground complex, re-enactors in uniform brought history to life, patrolling corridors and engaging with visitors to offer a glimpse into the daily routines and tensions of the era.
The experience allowed families and history enthusiasts to gain a deeper understanding of a time when the threat of nuclear conflict loomed large.

Several re-enactors also took part in interviews for an upcoming episode of the Cold War Conversations Podcast, which shares first-hand accounts and expert insights into the period.
For more than 50 years, the bunker remained a closely guarded secret.
Declassified in 1993, the 35,000 sq ft facility would have served as the centre of regional government in the event of nuclear war.
Originally rebuilt in the 1980s at a cost exceeding £32 million, it now stands as a museum preserving the legacy of the Cold War.
From stepping through its blast doors to exploring command rooms frozen in time, visitors were given a chilling insight into Britain’s preparations for the unthinkable.
Younger guests were also kept entertained with interactive activities, including the popular Soviet Spy Mouse Trail, while the on-site Bunker Bistro and gift shop provided the perfect way to round off a memorable visit.
