vandals smash into willaston whitestar changing rooms

Angry officials at a local football club have hit out at vandals who broke in to changing rooms and caused damage.

The incident happened at the ground of Willaston Whitestar, just off Wistaston Road.

It was the second incident after an initial first break-in attempt had failed days before.

A brick was thrown through the club building’s window, and vandals have scrawled writing on boards and walls. Empty bottles were left strewn across the pitch.

Gemma Neville, fundraising committee at the club, said: “The first attempt someone had tried to break into our container on the ground by trying to prise one of the container doors open to gain access into there.

“This is where we keep our property for our kids teams and adults teams.

“Fortunately for us they were unable to get in as we have multiple locks on the door.

“But a few days later when we went into the changing rooms to prepare for our semi final match, we found someone or some people have decided to go around the back of the changing rooms and put a brick through the window and gain access.

“There has been no other damage inside the changing rooms bar few bits of writing with white board pen which we will be able to scrub off and the window which we have been able to board up then replace the window in due course.

“Obviously, this is a massive headache to the club as we don’t know why someone would do this as all we want is to is build a safe space for our teams and the community to enjoy their football and make friends.

“We have informed the police and will work alongside them to try and catch the person/people who did this.

“We just wanted to put a post in on here to say please stay vigilant in case they have any more bright ideas to do it to anyone else.

“We were just getting everything ready for the next season and unfortunately the club has suffered a heart-breaking set back.

“Despite this, we are determined to push forward and create something positive for everyone involved in the club and the wider community.”

The club has set up a Justgiving page in the hope residents can step forward and help.

  1. Just dirt bags, who should be publicly shamed. Put them into army service; what will sort them out.
