Two more Crewe Regional Sunday League champions were crowned in two cup finals at the Mornflake Stadium.
In the first game, Cooper Buckley and George and Dragon faced each other in the Premier Division Cup Final.
Cooper Buckley had the better of the first 25 minutes and were able to capitalise with a headed goal from Luke Gillan and a superb on the turn volley from Harry Griffiths.
George and Dragon were then able to stabilise, and the rest of the half was hotly contested.
Despite chances for both sides, it was Cooper Buckley’s Harry Griffiths who got his second of the half and his team went in three goals up at the break.
George and Dragon were significantly better in the second half, and they were nearly rewarded for their efforts early on as referee Ian Hurdle awarded the Winsford team a penalty.
However, Cooper Buckley’s goalkeeper made a great save to keep his side 3-0 up.
Despite soaking up more pressure in the second half, Cooper Buckley were the next ones to score, with a second goal from Luke Gillan after a good bit of football.
Chances continued for George in the closing stages, and a late penalty was scored by Joe Duckworth.
In the second game, the first David Salmon Memorial Trophy winners were crowned as Sandbach Town faced Winsford Over 3.
This game was tightly contested from the outset, and neither team really took a true foothold in proceedings at any point.
It was Sandbach who scored first mid-way through the second half, but it didn’t take long for Winsford Over 3 to equalise.
Despite numerous chances and good build up play from both clubs, the first half ended with the scores locked at 1-1.
The second half was equally as close knit, and for much of the second half early stages, it was looking likely that we were going to penalties.
However, it was Sandbach who were able to get themselves ahead mid-way through the half, and they were able to extend their lead even further in the closing stages.
Sandbach Town scorers were Lewis Barker, Jack Skupski and Dom Vernon.
Tom Stanton scored the goal for Winsford Over 3.
