Music lovers are being invited to tune up and turn out for a packed programme of Ukulele Fun Nights with the next toe-tapping evening set for Friday (May 22nd), writes Jonathan White.
The events are hosted by the South Cheshire Branch of the George Formby Society on the fourth Friday of every month from 7pm to 10pm at Wistaston Memorial Hall, Church Lane.
The open-mic evenings are open to all abilities and musical styles, with ukulele and banjolele performances, good-natured MC banter, and a clap and sing along.
There’s also a raffle, refreshments at half-time, and a Bring Your Own option.
The remaining 2026 dates are 22nd May, 26th June, 24th July, 28th August, 25th September, 23rd October, 27th November, and 18th December.
Several members recently took to the stage at the Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza, entertaining crowds at one of Wales’ biggest free family festivals.
Celebrating the enduring legacy of George Formby — once Britain’s highest-paid entertainer — the group champions the joy, humour and emotional range of ukulele music.
Founded in 1994 and led by co-hosts Gail and Simon Kinrade, the South Cheshire branch has grown into a thriving hub for local musicians and music lovers.
