Combermere Abbey near Nantwich will open the gates to its historic gardens for a special Garden Open Day on June 11th.
Open to the public from 11am to 3pm, guests can explore 10 acres of the 12th Century estate’s gardens.
These include the Victorian Walled Gardens and Glasshouse, the unique Fruit Tree Maze, the elegant 19th century Pleasure Garden with its rare trees and Pempe’s Pavilion, and The Garden Wood leading down to enchanting views across the mere and surrounding countryside.
At the heart of the gardens sits the Glasshouse, designed by Messenger in 1903, within the Abbey’s fruit tree maze.
Designed by the late Randoll Coate, the espaliered labyrinth is believed to be the only fruit tree maze of its kind in the world and contains over 25 varieties of apple and pear trees.
Visitors can enjoy refreshments served within the garden setting, while a plant stall will offer seasonal plants and garden-inspired temptations.
Members of the gardening team will also be on hand to answer questions and share gardening advice and inspiration.
Light refreshments and free parking are available on site, including an EV charger. Dogs and picnics are not permitted.
Tickets are priced at £8.50 and pre-booking is required.
