A talented Nantwich pupil has won a competition to design a new pond and wildlife sign for a housing development.
Young Eden’s artwork has now been brought to life at the Maylands Park development in Stapeley.
The 11-year-old entered the competition which was run by his school Pear Tree Primary and housebuilders David Wilson Homes.
Pupils who entered had to create a colourful, eye‑catching design that would help visitors enjoy the pond area safely while celebrating the nature that surrounds it.
The artwork has now been professionally produced and installed beside the pond where it will be seen by residents and visitors for years to come.
Leanie O’Connor, a teacher at Pear Tree Primary School, attended the special unveiling with Eden who was presented with a prize to mark his achievement.
Mrs O’Connor said: “Our pupils absolutely loved taking part in this competition, and it’s been so exciting for them to see one of their classmates’ designs turned into a real sign.
“Opportunities like this show children that their ideas matter and can make a positive difference in their local area.”
Jennifer Burns, sales director at David Wilson Homes, said: “We were blown away by the standard of entries from Pear Tree Primary School, but Eden’s design really stood out for its celebration of the wildlife around the pond.
“It’s wonderful to see the sign now installed for everyone to enjoy.”
The new sign forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance the natural spaces at Maylands Park, encouraging families to explore the outdoors and enjoy the development’s green areas responsibly.
