Scott Wardley - Nantwich CC 1st team

Nantwich Cricket Club’s first team are gearing up for a busy weekend at Whitehouse Lane as the Dabbers try to maintain their league and cup momentum.

Nantwich have already booked their place in T20 Finals Day on July 26th.

And this Sunday July 19th they entertain high-flying Didsbury in the Cheshire Cup.

The 40-over-a-side game will start at 11.30am and all spectators are welcome for what should be an entertaining game.

The club also hosts ECB Premier League action on Saturday when Nantwich face Bramhall CC, the game starting at 11am.

Luke Robinson’s side will be looking to extend their five-match winning streak in the competition, having collected a comfortable win at Alderley Edge last weekend.

Having elected to bat, the Dabbers looked to be in a spot of bother at 39-3.

But not for the first time this season, Rob Jones (81) and Robinson (44) restored order with a 115-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

After the prolific pair were dismissed, Spencer Byatt took the attack to the home side, hitting 71 as Nantwich were bowled out for 282 from their 55 overs.

In the field, Nantwich were their usual sharp selves and when the dangerous Arav Shetty was run out, the home side were always struggling and were all out for 218.

Scott Wardley (pictured) was the pick of the Nantwich bowlers, taking 4-38 from six overs.

At Whitehouse Lane, there was a comfortable win for the seconds, where Oliver Howell’s unbeaten 111 was the centrepiece of the home team’s 295-9 from their 50 overs.

The visitors then had no answer to Joe Bolton, who took 6-50 to set up an 86-run victory for the Dabbers.

It proved to be another clean Saturday sweep when the third team coasted to a ten-wicket win over Wedgwood CC, who made 132-4 after choosing to bat.

In reply, Callum Pearson (63no) and Cameron Langdale (59no) needed only 20 overs to knock off the required runs.

Nantwich women’s first team travelled to Didsbury on Thursday and came off second best in their T20 Cup semi-final.

The home side won the toss, chose to bat and posted an imposing 176-0.

Openers Sarah Nettleton (57) and Aoife Fisher (43) went about the chase in positive fashion but the Dabbers eventually fell 25 runs short of their target.

The women’s first team entertain Oakmere CC on Tuesday, with the game starting at 6.30pm. All spectators are welcome.
