A new musical ensemble is set to join Nantwich’s community music scene with the launch of the Nantwich Symphonic Wind Band this September.
The new ensemble is being set up by the Association of Nantwich Bands, which Nantwich Concert Band is currently part of.
Active since 1983, Nantwich Concert Band is a brass and woodwind ensemble that performs a wide repertoire, from traditional wind band classics to modern stage and film favourites.
The Nantwich Symphonic Wind Band has been created for experienced woodwind, brass and percussion players who are looking to perform more challenging wind band repertoire.
It aims to present an annual programme of concerts, festival appearances and special musical projects.
Rehearsals will take place on Monday evenings during term time at Highfields Academy in Nantwich under the direction of Musical Director Nick Birch.
There will be no auditions with organisers keen to make the new band accessible to experienced musicians from across the region.
Players interested in becoming part of the band are invited to register their interest ahead of the first rehearsals in September.
Chair Nick Thayer said: “The launch of the Nantwich Symphonic Wind Band marks an exciting new chapter.
“Building on the success of Nantwich Concert Band, this new ensemble will give experienced musicians the opportunity to perform more challenging and varied repertoire while continuing to entertain audiences across the area.
“We are looking forward to welcoming players from Nantwich and beyond as we begin rehearsals in September.”
