Young patients at Leighton Hospital will benefit from new kit thanks to a donation from a South Cheshire rambling club.
Pallgo Rambling Club chose the hospital’s Child and Adolescent Unit as their “Charity of the Year”.
And they donated £800 towards new saturation monitors for measuring a patient’s oxygen levels and alert staff of any deterioration.
Jane Tew, who presented the cheque on behalf of the club, said: “Over the course of the year we run several activities, the proceeds of which help to build up our charity fund.
“As we are based in the local area, we wanted to help somewhere that would benefit the local community.
“As a result, we chose the Child and Adolescent Unit so that we can help the children – and who knows, some of them may become fellow ramblers in the future!”
Andrea Collins, ward manager for the unit, said: “On behalf of our patients, their families and our staff, I’d like to thank Pallgo for their donation.
“We are grateful we were chosen as their charity, and the money raised will help us to further improve the quality of care that we can provide to our patients.”
