Animal management students and staff in Nantwich tasted success after raising more than £630 by holding a charity tea party.
The Reaseheath College students organised a “Paws for Tea” stand, laden with cakes during the college’s recent Family Festival.
The tea party was part of an annual event in aid of the Blue Cross animal charity, which helps abandoned, unwanted, ill and injured animals.
Three members of staff took their Level 2 Award in Food Safety so they could homebake cakes for the stand and students donated goodies and made bunting and posters.
Local retail stores Marks & Spencer and Morrisons donated tea bags and confectionery.
Course manager Holly Berry said: “The students thought that this was a great opportunity to raise both money and awareness of this very worthy charity.
“Although the weather wasn’t very good, the cakes went down a treat with all the visitors to our zoo and animal centre!”
Tracey Chittock, fundraising events manager at Blue Cross, said: “We want to say a great big thank you to everyone at Reaseheath who put so much effort into organising their Blue Cross Tea Party.
“They’ve raised a fantastic total which will help us to help even more poorly and homeless pets.
“Blue Cross doesn’t receive any government funding, so events like this are vital for us – we’re really pleased to have such dedicated supporters.”
