The hit British film “Northern Soul” starring Lisa Stansfield, Steve Coogan and Riki Tomlinson is to get an exclusive airing in Nantwich.
Interest in the movie has been huge, including reports on The One Show, BBC Breakfast, BBC News and Granada Reports.
Now film club organisers in Nantwich have secured the rights to stage the only showing in Crewe and Nantwich – and hold a Northern Soul party afterwards!
The event takes place at the Crown Hotel, High Street, on Sunday November 9.
Event organiser Chris Anderton said: “To get this film is a real coup for the area!
“We bought the licence to show the film as part of an evening of Northern Soul.
“The release date is actually October 17 I believe, so it’s not even in cinemas yet.
“This will be the only showing in the Nantwich and Crewe area despite the area’s rich history in the Northern Soul movement.”
The film tells the story of a youth culture that changed a generation and influenced songwriters, producers, DJs and designers for decades to come.
It was director by award-winning Elaine Constantine tells the tale of two Northern boys whose worlds are changed forever when they discover black American soul music.
Doors open at 6pm with the film starting at 7pm.
The after-show party will include Northern Soul DJs playing vintage Northern soul classics on original vinyl.
Doors close at 11pm. Admission is ticket only.
Tickets are £8 each available from “Dabber Decades” Vintage shop in the Cocoa Yard in Nantwich or from Chris on 07974 722667.
