Toys donated to Leighton Hospital

A South Cheshire legal firm has raised more than £3,000 to help vulnerable people and animals this Christmas.

Staff at Crewe-based Crystal Legal Services have held dress down days every Friday through the year.

And this has accumulated more than £3,000.

A company vote helped them to split the money to several needy causes in the region.

Lath Group Homeless charity is to receive £450, and Contact the Elderly will also receive £450.

They have donated £450 cash to the RSPCA and an extra £450 worth of toys, food and treats.

And Leighton Hospital Children’s Ward has received £1,200 in toys, games, books, DVDs, Xbox games and toiletries.

One Crystal Legal Services employee also completed a parachute jump for the Douglas Macmillan Hospice, which raised a further £425.

Ten members of staff visited the local RSPCA centre in Stapeley, Nantwich, to hand over the food and toys.

And the day after, eight members of the Crystal Legal team, including case handler David Appleton, who dressed as Father Christmas, delivered presents personally to poorly youngsters at Leighton Hospital.

There will be 25 members of hospital staff working on the ward on Christmas Day who will be distributing the toys to the children.

Tony Shields, Crystal Legal Services managing director, said: “We are really proud to be able to help so many great causes.

“Our staff really got behind this initiative with donation of funds, choosing the charities and even helping out with the wrapping of gifts.

“It’s a small contribution to support the hard work of the volunteers and staff in these organisations and on behalf of everybody at Crystal Legal Services we wish everybody a Merry Christmas.”
