A judicial review decision on controversial housing plans for Willaston has been delayed.
The two-day hearing into plans for 146 houses off Moorfields took place in London.
After the hearing ended, the judge announced he would go away to consider his verdict to be delivered at a later date.
Hundreds of people have objected to the proposals by Richborough Estates, who originally submitted plans for 170 homes on the same site.
This was rejected by Cheshire East Council, but that was overturned on appeal by a planning inspector, prompting the council’s bid to take it to judicial review.
Willaston and Rope Ward Councillor Brian Silvester (pictured) said: “Along with the residents, the Green Gap Action Group and the Parish Council, I have campaigned very hard to stop this unwanted development.
“I went along to the appeal hearing and spoke against it and was cross examined.
“We were all shocked when it was passed on appeal because the inspector had not given much weight at all to the importance of the Green Gap.
“Also his decision went against a decision on appeal, which was taken at roughly the same time, to refuse a housing development in the green gap in Sydney, Crewe.
“Currently the village is being inundated with housing applications.
“Two more have recently come in for nearly 300 houses.
“If the Moorfields decision is thrown out then it would make it so much easier to defeat the new applications.”
