Nantwich businessman Shaun Cafferty has been announced as new chairman of the South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce.
Mr Cafferty, a long-serving director on the Chamber board, is joint managing director of lettings firm Martin&Co and co-owner of Whitegates estate agency in Crewe.
He said: “I am delighted to become chairman of the Chamber at this particular time of great local challenges, but even greater opportunities.
“I am massively convinced of the huge economic and business potential in South Cheshire, now more than ever before.
“The Chamber has a leading role to play in helping to convert this potential into tangible benefits for local companies and local employment, for the good of the South Cheshire community as a whole.”
Mr Cafferty is well known for his charitable activities in South Cheshire, in particular Nantwich.
He is a supporter of the town’s Britain in Bloom effort, chair of the Holly Holy Day committee and co-organiser of Nantwich Fete.
He succeeds John Dunning, who is now President of the Chamber.
Mr Cafferty added: “Situated where we are within the region, it’s not always been easy to get our fair share of attention and the investment that goes with that.
“We all need to pull together to fight South Cheshire’s corner economically, and I look forward to being part of that exciting process.”
BBC Radio 4 Today programme interviewed Mr Cafferty as part of a Budget day broadcast from AO.com in Crewe.
He showcased the town as a centre of exporting excellence, sending goods including luxury cars, ice cream vans and breakfast products round the world.
