General knowledge buffs flocked to Nantwich to take part in a British-themed quiz raising cash for hospice care.
The event, organised by insolvency specialists BCR in Nantwich, drew a crowd of local accountants, bankers, lawyers and financial advisors to Residence Restaurant on Mill Street.
£800 was raised in aid of St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice in Winsford and Douglas Macmillan Hospice at Trentham.
BCR managing director Phil Wood, who was quiz-master, said: “The evening continues to grow in popularity and this year we had another full house.
“All tables were sold to teams from local businesses who also gave generously to the raffle.
“This was our sixth annual event and once again we were delighted to see so many businesses support the evening.
“There was good-humoured rivalry and some great banter between professionals from quite different backgrounds but they were united in an effort to support the hospices.”
Teams paid £50 to take part and were tested on their knowledge of all things British including questions on sport, geography, TV, music and current affairs.
There was further success for brainbox bankers from NatWest whose business team carried off the winner’s cup for a fourth year.
Other local companies taking part included Barclays, Beswicks Legal, Bowcock Cuerden, Bowcock & Pursaill, Grindeys, Howard Worth, Louis Taylor and Watts Mortgages.
BCR, which has offices on Beam Heath in Nantwich, helps troubled businesses get back on their feet with specialist recovery and restructuring services.
Mr Wood added: “As Licensed Insolvency Practitioners we spend every day guiding our clients through solutions from raising finance, negotiating with HMRC or the bank to help put their businesses back on track and keep local people in jobs.”
