A Nantwich man is sporting a new bald look after ‘braving the shave’ for a cancer charity.
Estate agent Jonathan Welford, 45, has so far raised more than £700 for Macmillan Cancer Support after having his hair razor shaved at Gentleman Jacks barbers on Hospital Street.
He’s promised to stay bald to Christmas at this amount but will extend this to a year if £1,000 is pledged on his donations page.
If it reaches £2,000 he will stay bald for two years and £8,000 for five years.
Jonathan, of Kingsley Village, said: “I was inspired by the incredible courage of late my sister in law Eleanor Hardy in her final months as she battled against breast cancer and felt I needed to do my bit to raise money and awareness.
“On Sunday I decided to ‘Brave the Shave’ and within 48 hours over £500 was pledged, doubling my expectations.
“Rather than a one-off shave lasting a couple of days, I aim to keep the momentum going and make it a more long-lasting campaign.
“The messages of support on social media have been so kind and encouraging.”
Originating from Naples Zebi Risidi, co-owner of Gentleman Jacks, used traditional Italian barbering techniques to create his smooth hair-free look with cut-throat razor.
Jonathan, who works at Bob Gutteridge estate agents in Newcastle added: “People know me for having fairly long hair but I’m already getting used to the look.
“It was actually quite a relaxing experience. I can highly recommend Zebi for her skills.”

As of Saturday the total raised and pledged is £1280, we have six days to go and then my pledge is to remain bald for two years! Gulp
