Nantwich Town were held to a 0-0 stalemate at Gainsborough Trinity as striker Callum Saunders saw red in the final minutes.
The Dabbers were marginally the better side in a drab festive affair.
But they could have lost it in the 90th minute when Chadwick blasted one against the post with Greg Hall beaten in the Dabbers goal.
Moments later, Saunders was shown a red calls for a dubious challenge, just seven minutes after coming off the subs’ bench to replace Joe Mwasile.
Sean Cooke had a good effort saved by Gainsborough keeper Lloyd Allinson in the first half. Cooke also had one cleared off the line before the break.
Hall came to Nantwich’s rescue with a good save from a free-kick.
After the break, Chadwick raced through one on one with Hall on the hour mark but the keeper thwarted his progress well.
On 78 minutes, a Nantwich corner was fizzed into the box by Cooke but no one was able to turn it in.
The game finally livened up on 90 minutes with Chadwick’s effort off the upright and Saunders’ red card.
The 0-0 means Nantwich drop to mid-table 11th place in Bet Victor Northern Premier League on 28 points from 18 games.
But they remain just four points off the play-offs with games in hand on most sides above them.
They welcome local rivals Stafford Rangers in a Boxing Day derby clash on Thursday, kick off 3pm.
