bonfire in stapeley field

Fire crews have criticised people who started a bonfire in Stapeley and left it unattended.

They were called to the fire in a field off Thalia Avenue on the Stapeley Gardens development at around 5pm last night (Nov 7).

On arrival the crew discovered that it was a small unsupervised fire.

Firefighters extinguished it with water and were in attendance for around half-an-hour.

Nantwich Fire Station said on social media: “These kind of incidents drain resources which could be needed elsewhere at more serious incidents.

“Please consider this when lighting any fires outside.”

Shortly after at around 7.30pm, firefighters were called to an arson incident in a play area in Crewe.

They attended the incident on Smith Grove and found a set of swings well alight.

Firefighters extinguished the fire with an extended hose reel jet and were in attendance for around 20 minutes.

The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.

Anyone with any information about the fire should call Cheshire Constabulary on 101, quoting IML 846838, or give the details via https://www.cheshire.police.uk/ro/report
