Ewan Bange’s first half strike gave Bamber Bridge the three points against Nantwich Town at the Optimum Pay Stadium, writes Liam Price.
The game was evenly matched throughout most of the first half.
Danny Forbes saw a ball played through for him but Dabbers keeper Cameron Terry came off his line quickly to claim.
Bamber Bridge were keeping a high line and after initially catching the Dabbers frontline offside a couple of time, Shaun Miller was able to break it.
His low ball was sent wide by Joe Mwasile after Matty Devine played it in.
Then Devine, egged on by the crowd, opened up and charged down the left, but Miller wasn’t able to get the right contact on the pullback and it was easy for Roccia.
Hesitation from Mwasile then cost him a chance to shoot at goal a couple of minutes later.
After a better Dabbers start, the visitors began to control things a bit more as the half progressed, and took the lead just a minute before the break.
A cross from the right caused confusion in the Nantwich defence, with Terry staying on his line, and Ewan Bange was on hand to smash in the opening goal at the far post.
In the second half, a couple of Nantwich substitutes provided more of a threat going forward.
Connor Heath was played in from a long ball from Terry but Bamber Bridge’s Roccia stood tall to block. His physicality was a real problem for the Bamber backline and he may well be in contention to start against Witton after his cameo here.
Thommy Montefiori pulled a shot wide from just outside the box as Nantwich kept coming forward.
But ultimately, it was to no avail, and the visitors could have added to their lead, Bange missing a strong headed opportunity and Mark Yeates just missing the target from a corner.
In the final moments, sub Callum Saunders could have equalised but couldn’t get over his shot and it was easily saved, as Bamber Bridge made it four wins on the bounce, and for Nantwich a third consecutive loss without scoring.
With Witton to follow quickly on Monday, there is a chance to get back on track against their local Cheshire rivals.
