Nantwich Town Women suffered a rare setback as the Dabbers were beaten 2–1 by Runcorn Linnets in the North West Women’s Regional League Division One South.
The defeat came in Nantwich’s final away match of the season at the Apec Taxis Stadium in Runcorn.
Crewe & Nantwich RUFC coach Andy Brown admitted they were beaten by a “better team” after the 1sts crashed to defeat at Leek. The Vagrants side were humbled by the league leaders 29-0. It was only Crewe & Nantwich’s third defeat of the league campaign.
A gang of Eastern European armed robbers tied and beat an 80-year-old granddad before stealing antiques and paintings worth more than £100,000. The victim suffered a brutal seven-hour ordeal in his own home on the Cheshire/Staffordshire border.
