Cheshire East school staff quitting over new computer system

A councillor claims school staff are quitting their jobs because of the stress caused by a problematic computer system brought in to make Cheshire East more efficient.

The Best4Business project, designed to replace the ageing business IT systems with a new cloud-based network at both Cheshire East and Cheshire West & Cheshire councils, has had issues from the outset and is massively over-budget.

A new HR and Payroll IT system for Cheshire East Council called “Best4Business” has ended up being “Worse4Taxpayer” after costing more than double the original £11.8 million, a report shows.

£11.5 million IT project for Cheshire councils to double in cost

An IT project for both Cheshire councils which is more than a year overdue, is now expected to cost almost double its original price at £22.3 million.

Cheshire East Council and Cheshire West and Chester Council entered into a joint agreement with technology firm Agilisys in 2017 to launch a new HR and finance system worth £11.5 million.
