The cost of Crewe’s new police station near Shavington has rocketed from £8.5 million in 2022 to £16.5 million – and part of that is due to the derailed HS2 project.

Cllr Keith Millar asked police commissioner Dan Price for an update on the new police hub to be built in Basford, during a Cheshire’s police and crime panel meeting.

Cheshire East councillors urged to oppose police PCSO axe plan

Cheshire East councillors are being urged to oppose plans by Cheshire Police Chief Constable which could see up to 60 of the county’s 87 PCSOs axed.

The force launched an internal consultation last month to save £13 million over the next four years through reducing PCSOs (police community support officers) and redistributing warranted police officers into neighbourhood policing teams.
