Crewe & Nantwich MP Connor Naismith says he has raised concerns with Cheshire East over the diversion routes set up to prevent heavy vehicles using Baddington Bridge near Nantwich.
A temporary 7.5 tonne structural weight limit was implemented on the bridge on the A530 Whitchurch Road after inspections found it was no longer safe for vehicles above that weight.
Motorists are being warned of long diversions and disruption with the closure of the busy A51 at Wardle near Nantwich for up to 16 WEEKS.
The closure announced by Cheshire East Council is for major repair work to the road.
Network Rail chiefs have issued another warning to Nantwich residents and rail passengers over the temporary closure of the busy Newcastle Road level crossing in January.
The closure, according to Network Rail, is to allow a team of engineers to perform “essential renewal work” to the crossing.
Fire crews are tackling a large blaze at a scrap metal dealer’s in Nantwich this morning (Friday October 7). Police have set up diversions during peak rush hour after the fire broke out at Garratt’s Metals, at Alvaston Business Park, off Middlewich Road.
