Cheshire East Council has turned down a proposal which would have allowed councillors to claim two special responsibility allowances.
At present, councillors can only claim one special responsibility allowance (SRA).

Cheshire East looks set to freeze councillor allowance rates for this financial year.
But they could allow eligible members to claim two Special Responsibility Allowances (SRA) instead of one.
Bosses at Cheshire East Council have refused a request to revisit the controversial Green Waste Charges set to be brought in from January, say Conservative councillors.
The Conservative Group on Cheshire East had officially referred the decision made at Environment & Communities Committee decision to implement Green Waste Charges to full council.

Cheshire East is proposing to increase spending on services by more than £16m in 2022/23 and is looking for an £11.8m increase in council tax to help fund it.
The Medium Term Financial Strategy (budget) will be voted on at full council on Thursday (February 24).
