Detectives are urging Nantwich and Crewe residents to be vigilant following a spate of hoax calls from scammers claiming to be police officers acting on behalf of HMRC.
Officers have received 12 reports since June 2 of people receiving calls from someone purporting to be from Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
Alleged “threats” made against Brine Leas School in Nantwich are hoax, police have said.
Officers were called in after the “threats” were reported as being posted on social media sites including Instagram and Snapchat.
