Proposed changes to council tax rules for second home owners could see Cheshire East rake in an extra £2.6m from 2024.
The government is currently bringing forward the Levelling-up and Regeneration Bill which will give councils further flexibility when it comes to billing second home owners.
Cheshire East Council has submitted three bids to round two of the government’s Levelling Up Fund, the authority has confirmed.
The Levelling Up Fund is designed to invest in infrastructure that improves everyday life across the UK.
Cheshire East is set to give the go ahead for two funding bids for the Nantwich Road enhancement schemes linked to the Crewe hub, writes Belinda Ryan.
The government launched the second round of bidding for the Levelling Up Fund, in March.
