Cheshire East Council could pay its new top boss up to £190,000 a year – that’s £30,500 more than the council currently pays for the role.
Current chief executive Dr Lorraine O’Donnell is leaving the authority in October to move to the top job at Bradford Council on a salary of £205,000.

Cheshire East Council’s chief executive is expected to quit to become the new boss of Bradford Council on a salary of £205,000.
Dr Lorraine O’Donnell has been chosen as the preferred candidate to take on the role in West Yorkshire.

Four top officers at Cheshire East Council earned more than £100,000 – including one interim staff member who was paid £112,404 for six months’ work.
If pension and other benefits are included, eight individual staff members cost the council more than £100,000 between April 2021 and March 2022.
Cheshire East Council has formally appointed Lorraine O’Donnell as its new £150,000-a-year chief executive.
It follows the council’s cross-party staffing committee recommending Ms O’Donnell as their preferred candidate after a recruitment process.
