FEATURE: Is there a lack of support for military veterans?

According to the Ministry of Defence (MOD), there are around two million UK Armed Forces veterans residing in Great Britain in 2022.

While this number is projected to fall to 1.6 million by 2028, there remains concern that these individuals (many of whom suffer with physical and mental health conditions as a result of their time in the Armed Forces) are failing to receive the necessary support as they adjust to civilian life.

Ministry of Defence confirms probe into Nantwich soldier’s Military Cross

The Ministry of Defence is investigating claims a Nantwich soldier’s gallantry was “exaggerated” before he was awarded the Military Cross.

A report in a national newspaper suggests the actions of Lieutenant William Boreham, of 1st Battalion the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment, may have been exaggerated, possibly without his knowledge.

Cheshire regiment soldier killed in Afghanistan battle

A soldier from Cheshire’s 1st Battalion The Mercian Regiment has been killed in an insurgent attack in Afghanistan. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced the death this afternoon (March 26). The soldier’s name and where he is from has not been revealed.
