Cheshire East leader’s warning over Webb House religious group protests

Cheshire East Council’s leader has urged out-of-town protesters outside Webb House in Crewe to go home – saying they are not helping anyone and are making residents feel very vulnerable.

Protests outside the HQ of the Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light on Victoria Avenue have continued since the building was raided by more than 500 police officers at the end of April.

Protesters attend CEC meeting to demand parking charge re-think

Protesters from Audlem called on Cheshire East Council to re-think plans to introduce parking charges, saying it would impact health workers and prevent businesses relocating to town centres, writes Belinda Ryan.

Placard-waving demonstrators turned up outside yesterday’s meeting of the full council at Jodrell Bank to put their arguments to councillors before next month’s highways committee meeting, when a decision on the charges will be made.
