Political parties talk over who will run Cheshire East Council

No decision has yet been made on who will run Cheshire East Council – with the Independent group in talks with both Labour and the Conservatives.

Neither Labour nor the Conservatives won the required 42 seats to take overall control of the council in the May 4 elections.

The Conservatives are fielding the most candidates in the election for Cheshire East Council and are fighting for 81 of the 82 seats up for grabs.

The Tories had control of Cheshire East from 2009, when the council was formed, until 2019 when they lost overall control – although they still remain the largest party.

CEC to stage “briefings” for local council election candidates

Cheshire East Council’s election team is to host briefing sessions for potential borough, town and parish council candidates ahead of the local elections in May.

Seven sessions on borough council elections and seven separate sessions for town and parish council elections will be held at locations across the borough in February and March.
