Nantwich humanitarian honoured with Global Peace Award

A Nantwich humanitarian has been recognised on the world stage for a second time after receiving another accolade from the United Nations Global Peace Council.

Dr Parveen Smith, 55, was presented with the United Nations Global Peace Council New York Award 2026 as Mental Health & Wellbeing Advocate of the Year at a glittering ceremony at the Martinique Hotel in New York.

Eddisbury Conservative MP Stephen O’Brien is to step down and take up a top job at the United Nations.

Mr O’Brien, who has represented the constituency which includes many villages around Nantwich since 1999, will be in charge of humanitarian affairs and emergency relief at the UN.
