Plans to improve Cheshire East SEND provision hang on Govt decision

Plans for improving special needs provision for Cheshire East children are in limbo because the government has not made a decision on the authority’s bid to convert its former HQ into a school, a councillor said.

Officers briefed the children and families committee on the council’s proposed SEND (special educational needs and disability) and AP (Alternative Provision) ‘One Plan’.

Cheshire East Council is to press ahead with plans to close its Westfields headquarters at Sandbach.

The corporate policy committee voted unanimously yesterday (November 30) to close the building to save money.

CEC staff to enjoy free parking as no charges planned for council car park

Cheshire East Council has no plans to introduce parking charges on the council-owned staff car park in Sandbach – meaning its workers will continue to park free if others are charged.

The cash-strapped council has consulted with residents on plans to introduce charges in “free-parking” towns like Sandbach and to revise charges – mainly upwards – in those which already pay such as Nantwich.

Cheshire East Council is considering plans to close its headquarters in Sandbach and operate out of its offices at Crewe and Macclesfield.

The council is also looking at proposals to move Macclesfield Library into the town hall.
