Nantwich Players Youth Section

Nantwich Players Youth Section will present their production of Willy Russell’s “Blood Brothers” next month.

The show, originally written as a school play in conjunction with Merseyside Young People’s Theatre, has gone on to be an international success as a musical.

But Nantwich Players younger performers will be putting on a version of the original play at the Love Lane theatre from March 27-31.

Director Michaela Warrilow said: “Blood Brothers is a great story for young people to tell, as it relates to the challenges we all face when growing up.

“It is also about relationships: that of the twins and that of two women. The play explores the differences between privilege, education and social standing.

“These are very powerful themes that are as pertinent today as they were back in 1981, when the play was first written.”

The play involves all youth section members in small and larger roles according to their confidence and experience, she added.

“Some prefer to take on technical roles, rather than performing ones.”

An extra performance has been arranged on Tuesday March 27 as tickets are expected to be in high demand.

They go on sale, priced £6, at Nantwich Tourist Information Centre on Monday March 5. Contact 01270 537359.

Performances are at The Players’ Theatre from March 2-31, starting at 7.45pm.
