A51 Bypass crash

Hundreds of Nantwich drivers faced traffic chaos when the busy A530 Middlewich Road was closed after an accident with a lorry and a car.

The accident happened close to the Rising Sun pub in Wistaston, on the outskirts of Nantwich.

The two drivers, a man and a woman, were taken to Leighton Hospital to be treated for their injuries.

The road was closed in the area at around 8.30am and diversions were in place to allow access to emergency services and scene examination.

It reopened later in the day.

Any witnesses to the collision should contact Cheshire Police on 101.

  1. The problem with traffic lights is coming from Nantwich to Crewe the blend in the road. You would have to set the light far back towards Alvaston to prevent more crashes of people running up the back of people who are waiting at the lights

About time there were traffic lights at that junction or at least cameras along that section of the road, which is very dangerous at the best of times. And as for trying to get out onto that road, you take your life into your hands and unfortunately anyone else’s also.

    • I agree with everything you said.
Lights must be installed at that junction.
I would also want lights at the junction at Winsford and Clive Green Lane.
