Reaseheath College’s florists celebrated after being awarded a silver-gilt medal at RHS Flower Show Tatton Park.

The Nantwich students were rewarded for their display in the floral design studio.

Their contemporary orange, cerise and lime display, combining delicate blooms and wirework, wowed the judges at the prestigious five day show.

The flowers were a mix of British grown flowers including tropical anthuriums and orchids.

Florist Fiona Davies said: “We were thrilled with our achievements this year. It really shows that Reaseheath College can compete and win alongside the best.”

Adrian Thomas, of Verdure Floral Design, who is planning to study for his Level 4 Higher Diploma in Floristry after completing his Level 3 Diploma, won a silver medal.

Matt BeesleyMeanwhile, Reaseheath landscape gardener Matt Beesley (pictured, right) has qualified for the potential GB squad for WorldSkills 2013.

He was one of six students in the UK to pass the final selection process at the RHS Flower Show Tatton Park.

Matt, 18, will now go through an eight month intensive training programme covering hard landscaping, plant knowledge and management skills run by WorldSkillsUK.

Just two of the six finalists will eventually represent GB in the WorldSkills final, an Olympics-style competition for students aged 23 and under, in 2013 in Leipzig, Germany.

Another Reaseheath student, Joshua Antrobus, made it through to the final 12.

Matt, from Winsford, who runs his own business Beesleys Landscapes, said: “This has been a fantastic experience for me.

“I have learned so much and gained such a lot of confidence. I’d particularly like to thank my hard landscape instructor at Reaseheath, Jason Hinks, for his support.”
