Youngsters at a Shavington school helped to raise £100 for Age UK Cheshire.

Staff and pupils from Shavington Primary collected the money from several events, including a Christingle service and nativity show.

The school also raised money through donations taken at the school performance of Roald Dahl’s, Fantastic Mr Fox in March and at an Olympic themed summer event.

Georgina Alexander-Pulham, spokeswoman for Age UK Cheshire, said: “We’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Shavington Primary School for contributing to the fundraising.

“This money will go towards helping fund some of our projects for older people, in the Crewe area.

“We are really keen to emphasize the importance of the work that we do for older people to future generations, so support such as this from a local school is invaluable.”

Age UK Cheshire was one of two local charities selected as ‘school charity of the year’ by Shavington Primary School.
