Two Nantwich brothers have inspired a “Calendar Girls” style stunt to raise money in memory of a friend who died.

Roy and Neil Aspinall persuaded nine other men to bare all for a special “The Nantwich Monty” calendar.

Their daring strip aims to raise money for the haematology transplant and oncology units at Christie’s Hospital.

It’s in honour of close friend Tony Griggs, who was treated at the unit before he died in the summer.Christie's Christmas calendar

Roy, 56, from Ravensmoor near Nantwich, has spearheaded the idea and can be spotted on the right by the Christmas tree with the large bell.

Brother Neil, 50, from Audlem, is next to him lifting his hat, with the flashing snowmen!

Roy said: “We’ve been planning something for three years, but we had a few delays.

“When I saw the Calendar Girls film it gave me the inspiration to do something similar.

“But we’re certainly not models, so we thought it would be good to get us pictured doing the jobs that we do!”

The calendar features one chap for each month, with a final group shot of the 11 baring all in a Christmas scene for the December page.

Roy is August, while Neil is January. Also involved are friends Dave (February), Ray (March), Mark (April), Chris (May), Pete (June), Hugh (July), Stuart (September), Daniel (October) and Mac (November).

“We want to create something which was a bit of fun but would also help raise money for the units at Christie’s,” added Roy.

“We’ve all got friends or family who have been affected in some way by cancer.”

And the £5 calendar is proving a hit before it goes on general sale, with 500 pre-orders already made.

“We’re asking for a minimum £5 donation, but some have pledged more which is nice.”

And it might not end there, as the lads are already contemplating a live show, just like the hit 90s movie The Full Monty!

“We’ve already had a request from some to do it,” laughed Roy.

“Some of the lads are up for it. It has been a lot of fun putting this together, despite some of us being a bit worried at the start!”

The calendar is due to go on general sale in Nantwich and Crewe in two weeks.
