The 2012 Nantwich Words and Music Festival was the best yet, organisers said today.

The event finished on October 14 after a final weekend featuring shows by local musicians and international stars including Tim Burgess, Thea Gilmore and Athlete.

Festival organisers say audience reviews and feednack, as well as turnout to all the performances, rates it as the most successful to date.

Festival performer Tim BurgessThe Words And Music team welcomed visitors from Germany, Norway, Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, East Anglia and all other corners of the UK.

“We are thrilled with the performances we were lucky enough to present, their quality and their diversity and even more thrilled that so many people came tosee them,” said festival founder Nigel Stonier.

“From the opening chord struck by pianist/composer Steph Walker right through to Athlete’s final encore, a stunning pared down version of “Wires”, we were deeply proud of what went down.

“We have also been seriously touched and gratified by the generous comments which have been flying in via e-mail from artistes, agents and people who attended the gigs.”

The Words and Music Festival is run by volunteers and made possible by generous support of local venues and the audiences who attend the events.

Nigel added: “We’re growing, we hope you’re coming with us and we thank you again for supporting us this far.”

The Words and Music Festival will return in Autumn 2013.
