Millfields Primary School celebrate Ofsted praise

Youngsters at a Nantwich primary school will welcome their local MP to help leave a mark in history.

Crewe & Nantwich MP Edward Timpson will also be at Millfields Primary and Nursery to celebrate the school’s latest Ofsted report.

Mr Timpson, who is Minister for Children and Families, will be burying a time capsule with youngsters at the Marsh Lane school.

He will also look around the 248-place school and the nursery and will take part in the school’s event to mark 2012.

Each class has written an account of school life in the last year and youngsters have drawn portraits of themselves and staff to include in the capsule.

It will be buried on school grounds with a plaque to mark the spot.

Millfield’s latest Ofsted inspection shows huge improvements in the school.

The school was classified as “good” and in their report, Inspectors stated: “Weak teaching identified in previous years has been eliminated.

“Excellent leadership from the head teacher, deputy head teacher and the senior leadership team has greatly improved the school’s performance.

“The improved curriculum makes a strong contribution to pupils’ good spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.”
