Nantwich Town skipper Darren Moss continued his heroics leading the Dabbers to a vital away victory.

Moss (pictured) scored his side’s first goal in six hours in boss Jimmy Quinn’s 100th match.

Moss opened the scoring at Worksop with a fine header from a Caspar Hughes corner, before soon-to-be suspended substitute Josh Lane netted to seal the win.

Worksop were a constant threat in the air but were predictable and Lane took full advantage of a Nantwich counter to tap in in the last minute of normal time.

Moss’ goal came in the 82nd minute just as the game looked destined for stalemate.

Worksop, who won 5-0 at the Weaver Stadium in October, had been unbeaten in three matches.

The Tigers’ tactics were centred around their 6ft 5in striker Tom Denton’s aerial power.

And in the opening 10 minutes Worksop won almost every ball in the air as Nantwich struggled to string passes together.

Worksop had eight shots in the first half but it was Nantwich’s Brandon Windsor who spurned a chance to open the scoring, thwarted in a one-on-one by home keeper Paul Bastock.

The hosts went close just before the break when Denton nodded on to Lee Potts who fired narrowly over.

After the break, Ryan Clarke’s cross evaded Jon Brain but Charles Raglan made a last ditch clearance.

And moments later, Ryan Dicker was on hand to clear a Clarke shot.

Worksop captain Steve Towers then went close with a long range shot in the 69th minute.

In the 75th minute, striker Ashley Burbeary forced Brain to make a fine one-handed save with a well struck volley.

Burbeary was a constant thorn in Nantwich’s side with his skill and direct running.

And the hosts looked the most likely scorers in the final few minutes as Paris Bateman and Raglan once again defended heroically.

Then Nantwich produced a classic late smash-and-grab when Moss headed home and Lane secured the points in the final seconds.

It keeps Dabbers in 14th, three points ahead of Whitby, who have played two fewer games.

Nantwich: Brain, Raglan, C Bailey, Hughes, Dicker, Moss, Cole, Bateman (Clayton 68), Windsor (Lane 75), Wilson (Everall 71), Maquire. Subs: Everall, Lane, Clayton, Guest, Jones.
