A Nantwich fitness class is putting the One in Eleven Appeal in pole position with its fundraising efforts.

Louise Joubert, 28, who runs Pole Pinups classes, is organising a 12-hour pole dancing session in aid of Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity.

Classes have been running at the Wellness Centre on Hospital Street since February and around 30 members will take part in the fundraising on July 27, each taking a turn at the pole for as long as they can.

Louise, from Nantwich, said: “This is a wonderful local cause that is close to the hearts of a number of the Pole Pinups students.

“Sometimes I teach for eight hours a day so it’s normal for me.

“But the girls will be able to dance for as long as they are comfortable and I will be there to step in if needed to make sure we have someone on the pole constantly for the full 12 hours.”

The class is collecting sponsorship and will also be collecting on the day from family and friends who go along to support them.

Louise has been dancing from a young age, mainly ballet and classical forms, but a few years ago she decided to try a new dance fitness technique and discovered pole dancing.

She trained as an instructor for three years, before deciding to step out on her own with Pole Pinups.

“This is a dance-based fitness technique and it is a great work out for ladies of all ages and abilities who want to try something different.

“It can build confidence, strength and is great fun!” she added.

The One in Eleven Appeal was launched in 2012 to create a new neonatal unit at Leighton Hospital, Crewe.

Thanks to the efforts of local supporters it has already raised the £1.8m it needs for the project, but more funds will help provide more enhancements or new equipment.

The new neonatal unit will provide more space, comfort and privacy for families going through difficult times when their baby is in hospital, as well as better storage and a more modern design and layout. Preparatory work is planned to start this summer.

Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity fundraising manager Laura Bailey said: “This is a really different and fun way to support us.

“It will be a real physical challenge and we wish the ladies the best of luck!”
