Final preparations are taking place for the Nantwich Show – the biggest event in the town’s calendar.

And none more so than a world record attempt to make and bake the world’s biggest ever cheesecake!

Nantwich Show, which includes the world famous International Cheese Show, will be staged at Dorfold Park in Nantwich on Wednesday (July 31).

And despite rain forecast, organisers are confident the event will be a massive success after being forced to cancel last year’s event because persistent summer rain had left the ground too saturated.

One of the big draws will be the world record cheesecake bid, sponsored by Asda.

Organisers aim to get in the Guinness Book of Records topping two tons, beating the record currently held in Mexico.

Asda have also provided two chefs and eight staff to help assemble it!

Visitors to the show should be able to see and taste the finished cake on Wednesday.

The renowned Cheese Marquee which stages the international show is now a colossal 80,000 sq ft to enable it to hold the world record entries of 3,926 from 24 countries, and the record trade exhibits.

Celebrity chefs James Martin, Matt Tebbutt and Will Holland will also be housed in the marquee performing live for the audience.

The Cattle section and Shire Horses will be in the main ring in the morning, followed in the aftern0on by the return of Matt Coulter “The Kangaroo Kid”, performing death defying stunts.

The Town & Country Shopping Pavilion will be larger than ever to cope with the record number of 350 trade stands booked for the show.

And the Mornflake Food Hall will have a huge range of the best foods and drinks to taste and buy from around the region.

This year, there will also be home produce, horticulture, floral art, and honey in a new main ring side site, next to the countryside pursuits.

This continues to grow and will see more exhibits and demonstrations of rural crafts and skills, and gundogs and falconry.
