People over 50 across Crewe and Nantwich are being invited to a Health & Wellbeing Fayre in October.

The event has been organised by Crewe Senior Forum in partnership with Crewe Local Area Partnership, and aims to celebrate “Healthy Ageing”.

The event is taking place on Wednesday, 2nd October 2013, between the hours of 11.00am and 4.00pm at he Victoria Community Centre, Crewe.

It will be one of the largest gatherings of agencies all in one place in Cheshire East, with 63 agencies taking part and talks and taster sessions on fitness being staged.

Organisations attending include Cheshire East Council, Wulvern Housing and Richmond Retirement Villages, based in Nantwich.

Crewe & Nantwich Health and Wellbeing FayreThe day aims to offer opportunities to enjoy activities and talks, vital health information, free informal health checks and advice as well as fall prevention exercises and techniques.

Chair of Crewe Senior Forum Adrian Lindop said: “Our group is proud to be hosting this year’s event in partnership with Crewe Area Partnership, an event that has continued to grow for the seniors of this area and the help Crewe Area Partnership is giving is much appreciated.

“This is not just a free day out for the elderly but also a place where new friendships are made and a lot of useful information gathered.”

The organisers are also helping to lay on transport for those who would otherwise struggle to attend the event.

Groups attending on the day will be offering free advice and expertise, ranging from benefits advice to support groups, free blood pressure checks, and Tanita body composition, in an informal setting.

There will also be a tea dance, ballroom and line dancing, craft and knitting workshops, live singing, slow cooker demonstrations and food tasting session, Otago, table tennis, short mat bowls and much more.

Free refreshments are also on offer.

The 5th Health & Wellbeing Fayre takes place on Wednesday October 2 at the Oakley Buildings/Victoria Community Centre in Crewe, between 11am and 4pm.
