Bentley Motors has donated more than £3,000 to support a new neonatal unit at Leighton Hospital.

The motoring giant, which employs 4,000 workers across Crewe and Nantwich, has donated £3,257 to Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity’s One in Eleven Appeal.

The appeal was launched to help raise £1.8 million to create the new unit.

It hit its target earlier this year to fund the refurbishment work and extra donations will help to provide new equipment and further enhance the new unit when it is completed in spring 2014.

Leonie Williams, head of HR operations at Bentley, said: “Leighton Hospital plays a major role in the local community, treating hundreds of patients each day.

“The service and care it provides is outstanding and Bentley is delighted to show its gratitude and support the hospital through this donation.

“We hope it helps them continue their highly valued work, caring for the many patients they look after.”

About one in 11 of the 3,000 babies born every year at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust need additional support.

The new neonatal unit will provide more space and comfort for families in Crewe, Nantwich and the surrounding areas going through the heartache of having their baby in hospital.

Laura Bailey, fundraising manager for MCHC, said: “We sincerely thank Bentley for its tremendous generosity.

“This donation will go a long way in helping us enhance our new neonatal unit”with the best facilities possible.”
