Volunteers are needed to help collect for the annual Poppy Appeal in Nantwich.

This year, The Royal British Legion is calling on people to offer two hours of their time to help make 2013 appeal the biggest ever.

Organisers are on the look out for up to 10 more people in Nantwich to sit at manned poppy stands in supermarkets and other key locations for two hours between Saturday October 26 and Saturday November 9.

“You need have no military background whatsoever,” said Julie Dove, the Legion’s community fundraiser for Cheshire.

“Just a strong desire to support our Armed Forces and their families now, and for the rest of their lives.

“Every poppy helps The Royal British Legion to support the Armed Forces past and present and their families and a whopping £1.6 million is spent each week on delivering direct practical care and support to our Armed Forces community.”

Over 40 million poppies will be made and distributed across the UK and overseas by more than 350,000 collectors, aiming to raise £37 million.

Anyone interested in helping out in October and November, email Julie on [email protected] or call 07768 238875.
